What is Typebound?
Typebound is a space typing game that runs in your browser. Type the words on incoming asteroids to fire your spaceship’s weapons against a cinematic star field.
Typing practice and asteroid encounters
The game begins in an asteroid field. Type the first letter of a visible asteroid’s word to select it, then complete that word. Each correct letter fires a shot, and the final hit shatters the asteroid. Asteroids that hit your ship end the run. Play again starts at level 1. New asteroid fields follow completed waves.
Typing practice
Practice matching words on moving targets using your physical keyboard. Incorrect letters do not advance the selected word. Your score depends on asteroids destroyed and the active time taken to clear each level. Level transitions show your score and clear time. Your best total is saved in this browser. Typebound is a typing game rather than a timed typing test.
Controls
Select Play Typebound to prepare your flight, then type a visible asteroid’s word to shoot. Letters are case-insensitive. Space and Backspace are ignored during combat. Escape pauses the game, and typing resumes it. Click the game scene if it loses keyboard focus. Reload the page to start a new session.
Supported devices
Play on a desktop or laptop with a physical keyboard and a browser viewport at least 1024 × 600 CSS pixels. Both minimum dimensions are required. Browser zoom can reduce the available viewport. Phones and tablets are not supported for gameplay, including those with external keyboards. The homepage and this guide can be read on mobile.
Current limitations
Run progress is held only for the current session. Your high score and last run results are saved locally in this browser when storage is available. Reloading the page starts over. Mobile typing input is not implemented. Switching tabs or windows pauses gameplay and the level timer. Shrinking the window below the minimum size pauses the flight; after expanding the window, choose Resume flight. Typebound provides English word practice rather than a structured typing course.
